What motivates us?

According to Daniel Pink, the bestselling author of Drive: the Surprising Truth about What Motivates Us, the following three things motivate people:

  • Autonomy: People want to have control over their work.
  • Mastery: People want to get better at what they do.
  • Purpose: People want to be part of something that is bigger than they are.

  1. I think all three are important.

    We all want control of our work. But to have this you have to master what it is you are doing. You have to have a purpose in your life, and again it goes back to mastering this and having complete control over it. My need and want to become a doctor so that I can become apart of something bigger than myself. I realized after reading this I had to master it, and take control over it to become successful at it. This is really what motivates me.

  2. I consider myself a gamer. I strive to become the best at everything I do.

    Mastery is my motivation!
